Tatami App is a dedicated B2B initiative designed to streamline gym management. Focused on addressing the daily challenges faced by gym owners and staff, the app aims to simplify tasks such as attendance tracking, class scheduling, coach and student management, payments, and more.
My Role
Working with Tatami App, I led the redesign of their core management system, aiming to enhance user experience and minimize friction between the platform and users. Given the system was yet to go live and time was of the essence, my design approach heavily leaned on UX best practices, accessibility guidelines, desk research, and external references. The goal was not just visual appeal but practical functionality.
Embracing Wireframing
This project underscored the critical role of wireframing in my design process. As a designer, translating abstract ideas into tangible products is paramount. It's our responsibility to bring the client's vision into reality and lay the groundwork for the development team to excel. The wireframing stage, especially during Tatami’s redesign, proved pivotal. It consumed significant time as the team engaged in extensive discussions on optimizing features. One in particular posed a considerable challenge — class scheduling.
The client required diverse timeframes for classes, with variations in monthly and weekly repetition and distinct parameters for each. Navigating this complexity, we drew inspiration from Google Calendar’s scheduling feature. Through internal discussions and research, we arrived at a solution that satisfied both the team and the client. Now we only need to see what the users think...
